Timothy Pearson, PhD

I have been working as a freelance indexer and editor of academic work for over ten years. My expertise is in the arts and humanities, especially history, art, art history, cultural studies, museum studies, and Indigenous studies, though I also work in other areas. Please see my website, timothypearsonediting.com, for more information and for examples of projects I have completed. I hold a PhD in history and an MA in medieval studies and have published my own articles and books, so I know how much work goes into a manuscript. The index should be no different. My indexes rely on a close reading and deep understanding of the text to highlight themes, concepts, and ideas while creating links across terms through thoughtful and incisive cross-referencing. The result is more than the organization of information, it is another way of understanding the book and its contents. My primary aim is to create a tool that is useful to readers because it accurately reflects not just the content but also the arguments and ideas of the book and complements the intentions of the author.
