Catherine Plear Indexing: Academic, Scholarly, and Trade Books

An index is something well beyond a simple list of terms—it’s a reflection of the text’s essential nature. I can help ensure that a book’s index accurately represents its ideas, arguments, and discussions. Every entry will point the reader to substantial information, making for an enriched reader experience.

Completed projects include:
  • Women in Agriculture: Professionalizing Rural Life in North America and Europe by Linda M. Ambrose and Joan M. Jensen (editors)
  • Adaptive Education: An Inquiry-Based Institution by Robert Vanwynsberghe and Andrew C. Herman
  • Leading the Modern University: York University’s Presidents on Continuity and Change, 1974–2014 by Lorna Marsden (editor)
  • British Columbia: A Natural History of Its Origins, Ecology, Diversity with a New Look at Climate Change by Richard Cannings and Sydney Cannings

I have a particular interest in indexing academic and scholarly books. In addition to being an indexer, I’m also a certified copy editor and was a finalist in 2012 for Editors Canada’s Tom Fairley Award for Editorial Excellence. Please visit my website.
